Kenney Oldham Hayes

Kenney Hayes spent 35 years as a mortgage banking executive. She served in leadership positions for multiple nationwide banks and financial organizations focused on mortgage lending. Now in retirement, she has returned to her personal passion: writing!

As Co-founder and President of Writers Who Care, Kenney’s goal is to write about topics that many either do not know about or choose not to talk about.

She has published four non-fiction books and just completed her first work of fiction, a novel scheduled to be released in May of 2023. She writes from personal experience about topics that matter but need a push to bring to light.

For thirteen years, she served as a volunteer to be the voice of abused and abandoned children in the foster care system. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), she represented the child’s best interests and wishes so the court could hear from those whose trust had been broken by parents, grandparents, family members, caregivers, overloaded social workers, and even the courts. In this failing system, these children rarely get to have a voice for their needs, desires, or dreams of the future.

She considers her time as a CASA the best thirteen years of her life. Even though the days were sometimes filled with tears of frustration and sadness, there are also unforgettable memories of victories and joy.

Kenney is an accomplished musician, songwriter, and long-time volunteer in her community. Born and raised in Texas, the daughter of a prominent Baptist minister, she and her family landed in the Pacific Northwest in 1981. She and her husband have two adult daughters, three grandchildren and a spoiled Yorkshire terrier. They live near Seattle, Washington.
